Personal stories
During the first nine editions, the organization performed the most illustrious Requiems from the world of classical music. As of the 2015 edition, we would like to present concert programs that detail the personal lives of the fallen soldiers. These programs are intended to keep the memory of the sacrifices and exploits of these soldiers alive in the present and are also symbolic for universal themes that everyone can relate to. This is music about the rights that these soldiers fought for, created by composers from the countries of origin of these liberators. The symbolism and themes of this music have never lost their relevance and impact; even in 2016 it still relays an important message.

A resounding example was the 2015 edition that told the personal and captivating story of fallen soldier, Charles von Stade. Von Stade fell just shortly before liberation and his letters were put to music by the American composer, Richard Danielpour. Over 70 years after Von Stade’s death, his last signs of life on the home front resounded just a few meters from his grave.

The 2016 concert explored longing for home and yearning for peace and quiet. Themes that, back then, played an important role in the inner lives of the soldiers, but haven’t lost their meaning at all today.
